Position:  Sales Associate Patio Department- Riverside location

Status:  Full Time  (not to exceed 40 hours/week or 2,080 hours/year)

Position Summary:  Sales Associates are employed to promote, merchandise and sell patio furniture, grills, accessories and gifts in Village Green’s Patio department.  Sales Associates also answer phones and provide other customer service as needed to support business operations.


Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Greeting customers

  • Answer telephones

  • Operate cash registers, scanning goods and collecting payments or issuing credits, refunds or exchanges

  • Bag, box and wrap items carefully

  • Increase sales

  • Merchandise product in attractive manner

  • Maintain sales floor appearance

  • Cross-sell products

  • Direct customers to merchandise and answer customer questions

  • Resolve customer complaints

  • Complying with verbal and written instruction

  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Manager or Chief Executive Officer

  • Check in and price inventory

  • Special order furniture for customers

  • Keep product and department clean


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to provide high level customer service

  • Product knowledge

  • Telephone etiquette

  • Familiarity with Point of Sales Systems (POS) or other computer skills

  • Verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to merchandise goods

  • Basic math skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Organizational skills

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Ability to work as a member of a team

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift product up to 25 lbs.


Education and Training:

  • Fulfilled or working towards high school diploma or its equivalent

  • Prior experience in retail or other customer service desirable but not required
